We seek to consistently implement the latest techniques and tools in order to optimize our patients’ experience. When performing CEREC procedures, we often use DryShield™ technology: this elegant, comfortable device functions as a suction evacuator, tongue shield, bite block, and oral pathway protector all in one, enabling your practitioner to focus more effectively on performing your restorative procedure, reducing the length of treatment time. We also utilize OptraGate®, a soft, gentle lip and cheek retractor which isolates the treatment field, creating easier access to your teeth while allowing you to remain entirely comfortable. These technologies combined with CEREC can help you receive treatment faster and more comfortably than ever before.
With proper and conscientious care, over 95 percent of CEREC restorations are still intact after 10 years, and over 84 percent are intact after 20 years.
Our team is committed to preventing dental problems with early diagnosis and a comprehensive, effective treatment plan. Our high definition intraoral camera allows us to take clear crisp intraoral pictures of your teeth at a very high magnification. These images are enlarged on a computer screen for the patient to see. These images can also be sent electronically to insurance companies as reasoning for treatment so they are more likely to cover your treatment.
CAD/CAM Technology started in dentistry approximately 30 years ago. As with many technologies, the advances have been amazing. Over the past decade especially, amazing strides have been made with this technology. Traditionally, it is used to fabricate crowns; however, the newer applications of this machine have greatly expanded its usefulness.
CEREC is one of the greatest advances in modern dental technology. CEREC is a CAD/CAM computer system that allows us to fabricate outstanding quality porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays and veneers in one single visit.
As a patient there are many advantages of CEREC.
How does it work?
CEREC is a computer assisted design and computer assisted manufacturing system. CEREC has a built in color video camera that takes 3D pictures of your teeth and builds a 3D model. Once the teeth are imaged, the computer designs a crown to fit exactly on your tooth with your bite, this crown is then milled from a solid block of porcelain. It is then checked in the patient’s mouth to be sure the fit is precise before glazing and sintering in a special oven designed to increase the strength of the porcelain and achieve the final esthetic result. The restoration is then bonded to your tooth.

CEREC technology allows dentists greater precision and timely solutions than ever before in the creation of comfortable, aesthetically pleasing restorations. CEREC utilizes computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology to enable Drs. Jeffrey Gregson and Taylor Haddock, to fabricate, produce, and place restorations in the convenience of our own office in just one appointment. Gregson & Associates Dentistry, we proudly offer CEREC restorations in Metairie, LA. Using digital impressions and lifelike, biocompatible materials, these restorations are more comfortable, durable, and attractive than ever before.
Our in-office CEREC milling unit can create personalized restorations in less than an hour.
Digital x-rays produce a very clear image immediately with 1/10 to 1/100 the amount of radiation of older film x-rays. Our practice recently invested in upgrading our x-ray sensors to the highest quality available on the market today. This allows accurate diagnosis for our patients so they have the most complete comprehensive treatment plan and improves the health and safety of our patients and team by using such small doses of radiation.
Sometimes referred to as ceramic reconstruction, CEREC utilizes CAD/CAM technology to capture digital images of your teeth with an intraoral camera. These images help develop and design blueprints that are then sent to our in-office milling machine. Using a solid ceramic block that has been custom-shaded to match your smile, your restoration will be fabricated by the machine using diamond-coated milling units and can be ready in less than an hour. Your dentist will ensure that your restoration is a perfect fit before he permanently places it, polishing, painting, or glazing the restoration as necessary to achieve optimal aesthetics.
The beauty of CEREC® is that it often allows what was once a lengthy, multi-step, multi-appointment procedure to be performed in just one office visit. Additionally, CEREC can produce a wide variety of restorations including; porcelain veneers, dental crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, and implant-supported options.
